AirAsia Expands Network with New Kaohsiung-Osaka Route

Kuala lumpur: AirAsia Malaysia has introduced a new Kaohsiung-Osaka route, as part of its Kuala Lumpur-Kaohsiung service, marking the next phase of the airline's network growth across North Asia.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the low-cost carrier announced that the additional Kaohsiung-Osaka route strengthens connectivity between Taiwan and Japan while leveraging Kuala Lumpur as a key origin hub within the airline's broader network. Starting June 15, 2026, AirAsia will operate daily flights connecting Kaohsiung and Osaka in addition to the existing Kuala Lumpur-Kaohsiung route.

The introduction of this new route enhances the airline's presence in North Asia and supports the increasing demand for travel between Taiwan and Japan. It also offers more seamless travel options across multiple markets through AirAsia's extensive network. AirAsia Malaysia's general manager, Datuk Captain Fareh Mazputra, highlighted the strong demand for the airline's first fifth-freedom route between Taipei and Fukuoka last year, which maintained an average passenger load factor of over 90 percent since its inception.

To celebrate the new route, AirAsia is offering promotional all-in one-way fares from Kaohsiung to Osaka starting at NT$2,690, while fares from Osaka to Kaohsiung begin at JPY 11,990. The flight schedule includes AirAsia flight AK170 departing Kuala Lumpur at 2:55 am, arriving in Kaohsiung at 7:30 am, and continuing to Osaka at 8:30 am, with an arrival time of 12:40 pm. The return journey, AirAsia flight AK171, departs Osaka at 1:45 pm, arrives in Kaohsiung at 4:00 pm, and continues to Kuala Lumpur at 5:00 pm, arriving at 9:25 pm. All flights are scheduled daily, and timings are based on local time.

Bookings for this route are available from today until February 15, 2026, for travel between June 15, 2026, and October 24, 2026, through the AirAsia MOVE app and airasia.com.
