Kuala lumpur: Five areas, four in Sarawak and one in Peninsular Malaysia, recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings due to haze as at 4 pm today.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal reported that the four areas in Sarawak were the Serian Police headquarters with the air pollutant index at 174, Sri Aman at 164, Samarahan at 154, and Kuching also at 154. Meanwhile, Johan Setia in Selangor recorded an unhealthy API reading of 131.
Nationwide, 56 areas recorded moderate readings, while seven areas were fortunate to record good air quality readings. The API scale categorizes air quality levels from 0 to 50 as good, 51 to 100 as moderate, 101 to 200 as unhealthy, 201 to 300 as very unhealthy, and 300 and above as hazardous.
