Tanah merah: Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM) is committed to expanding its Ikhtiar Ar-Rahnu service nationwide to provide takaful-protected, Shariah-compliant micro-financing facilities. Its managing director, Datuk Mohamed Shamir Abd Aziz, announced the initiative, emphasizing the service’s goal of addressing financial needs through Shariah-compliant means.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ikhtiar Ar-Rahnu offers financing of up to 75 percent or a maximum of RM300,000, with profit rates starting as low as 90 sen per month. This service is based on a Shariah-compliant pawnbroking system and is protected by takaful, making it accessible even to individuals who are blacklisted. “The Ikhtiar Ar-Rahnu service reflects our commitment to providing Shariah-compliant micro-financing that can help AIM members, clients, and the community manage their daily financial needs,” Mohamed Shamir stated during the launch of the first Ikhtiar Ar-Rahnu branch in Tanah Merah.
Mohamed Shamir further revealed AIM’s plans to open f
ive more branches over the next three years. The Tanah Merah branch is the inaugural location, with two or three more branches expected to follow in areas with demand for the service. He noted that members would not only gain access to the financing facility but would also share in the profit returns from this service.
In addition, Mohamed Shamir highlighted AIM’s ongoing support and trust in the Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia Staff Cooperative (KKAIMB). AIM will continue to collaborate with KKAIMB to manage, implement, and strengthen various business ventures with AIM and its strategic partners, ensuring the cooperative’s sustainability and competitiveness. KKAIMB also manages welfare, death, and disability funds to protect AIM’s financing for its clients, while exploring supply, plantation, and property ventures as alternative income sources.
