Ulu kinta: About 2,000 residents from seven Orang Asli villages in Ulu Kinta benefited from an Aidiladha qurban programme following the contribution of eight cows by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Tambun parliamentary special officer Mohamad Hairul Amir Sabri said the programme was organised by the Tambun Parliamentary Community Service Centre in collaboration with the Department of Orang Asli Development (JAKOA), with the participation of the Orang Asli community.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the initiative was part of ongoing efforts to ensure the Orang Asli community in the parliamentary constituency could also share in the Aidiladha celebration and benefit from the distribution of sacrificial meat. The programme involved Orang Asli community from Kampung Makmur, Kampung Tonggang, Kampung Chadak, Kampung Suluh, Kampung Suak Petai, Kampung Choh, and Kampung Baduk.
Mohamad Hairul Amir stated that the response has been very encouraging compared with previous years, leading to an expansion of the programme and increased community participation. He announced this after the Aidiladha Qurban Perdana and Kenduri Rakyat 2026 programme at Kampung Makmur.
The Prime Minister had contributed about 170 cows for distribution throughout the Tambun parliamentary constituency in conjunction with Aidiladha this year. This contribution enabled mosques, surau, residents' associations, and local communities to carry out qurban activities and distribute meat to those in need. Mohamad Hairul Amir emphasized that this reflects the Prime Minister's continued commitment to ensuring the welfare of the people remains a priority.
Meanwhile, Kampung Makmur Tok Batin Jailani Rasid noted that the programme benefited the Orang Asli community while strengthening ties among residents. He expressed gratitude for the contribution of sacrificial cows and meat, highlighting that programmes like this provide an opportunity for residents from different villages to come together and participate in the qurban ritual.
