Kuala lumpur: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has extended his congratulations to the country’s top women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah on their victory at the 2025 Japan Masters in Kumamoto today. He said the triumph not only serves as an inspiration to the nation but also marks a new milestone for Malaysian badminton as the duo became the first Malaysian pair to win at the prestigious tournament.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ahmad Zahid expressed his admiration for the duo’s performance and highlighted the significance of their achievement. ‘My congratulations to our national women’s doubles pair, Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah, on winning the Kumamoto Masters in Japan just now. Simply outstanding!’ he stated in a Facebook post. He emphasized that this victory is Pearly and Thinaah’s third BWF World Tour title, showcasing the ability of Malaysian players to excel on the global stage. He assured that the nation takes pride in their accomplishment and will continue to support them.
Pearly-Thinaah were crowned champions after defeating Japan’s Rin Iwanaga-Kie Nakanishi with scores of 22-20, 21-19 in the final match.
