Aguero Ready To Fly Malaysian Flag In ASEAN All-Stars Match Against Red Devils

Kuala Lumpur: Harimau Malaya naturalised striker Sergio Aguero has described his selection for the ASEAN All-Stars squad as a significant milestone in his football career ahead of their clash against English giants Manchester United in the Maybank Challenge Cup on Wednesday here. The Sri Pahang FC forward said the opportunity to represent Malaysia on such a prominent stage, even in an exhibition match, is a great honour and a proud moment for him.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Aguero expressed his excitement, stating, “It’s an incredible honour to be selected for such a historic match. Playing against one of the biggest clubs in the world, alongside some of the best players from this region, is truly a dream come true.” Aguero, who is 31 and originally from Argentina, emphasized the significance of representing Malaysia at this level, especially in front of home fans at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil.

Apart from Aguero, the ASEAN All-Stars squad will feature four other national players: Muhammad Azam Azmi Murad from Terengganu FC, Muhammad Adib Abdul Ra’op from Penang FC, Muhammad Haziq Nazdli from Perak FC, and Declan Lambert from Kuala Lumpur City FC. This match marks Manchester United’s return to Malaysia since their last visit in 2009, where they defeated Malaysia XI twice at the National Stadium.

Additionally, Manchester United’s pre-season tour will see them travel to Hong Kong to face the Hong Kong national team on May 30. Meanwhile, the statement from the organisers has revealed that ticket sales for the upcoming match have been brisk, with several categories already sold out. Fans are encouraged to secure their seats via the official ticketing platform.
