Ipoh: Nearly 500 agri-entrepreneurs in Perak have received guidance from the state’s Agriculture Department to boost production, marketability, and product sales, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad. He highlighted the state government’s commitment to supporting new and existing agri-entrepreneurs through equipment purchases, facility upgrades, infrastructure development, and improved product packaging.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, this year alone, 50 entrepreneurs have received aid amounting to RM980,000 from the state government via the Agriculture Department. Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad shared these insights with reporters after officiating the Perak Agriculture Department’s KPKM INC and Riang Ria Raya 2025 Programme.
Last year, Perak’s agri-entrepreneurs recorded RM65.5 million in sales from 12.72 metric tonnes of produce, with some entrepreneurs earning over RM1 million annually and several expanding into international markets. Saarani highlighted Imperia Asia Sdn Bhd, which now exports to Turkey and the United Kingdom, and Syilis Food Manufacturing Sdn Bhd, which supplies products to Saudi Arabia, Brunei, Singapore, Japan, and Turkey. Notably, Syilis Food Manufacturing also secured a contract to provide sambal nasi lemak for Saudi Airlines.
Saarani expressed that these achievements should encourage other entrepreneurs to explore overseas markets. He reiterated the state government’s commitment to helping local businesses expand globally. Also, present at the event were State Rural Development, Plantation, Agriculture, and Food Industry Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Zolkafly Harun and Perak Agriculture Department director Norsiyenti Othman.
