Kuala lumpur: The Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) will immediately review the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report into the management and operations of Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) from 2014 to 2020.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the AGC stated that this initiative aims to ensure comprehensive investigations by the relevant enforcement agencies. This would enable due consideration of whether any breaches of the law warrant prosecution. The department emphasized its constitutional responsibility to conduct investigations according to the law and based on available evidence.

The AGC assured that any decision to prosecute will be made solely on legal grounds and admissible evidence, free from external pressure or public sentiment. The AGC expressed its support for the Cabinet's decision to make the RCI report public, acknowledging the serious findings related to TH's management, investments, and allegations of misconduct.

The public was urged by the AGC to avoid speculation and the spread of unverified information that could jeopardize ongoing investigations and undermine public confidence in Lembaga Tabung Haji's responsibilities under the Tabung Haji Act 1995 (Act 535).

The RCI report, published on the official portal of the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM), recommended a forensic audit to scrutinize past investment decisions leading to a decline in TH's asset value. The report also highlighted several problematic investments warranting forensic audits and uncovered evidence of suspicious transactions and information concealment.
