Abdullah Was A Humble Leader, Never Spoke Ill Of Others – Former Bernama Chairman

Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia’s fifth Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi was known for his humility and integrity, never speaking ill of others. Former Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) chairman Tan Sri Mohd Annuar Zaini shared these reflections on the late leader, affectionately known as ‘Pak Lah’.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohd Annuar reminisced about his first encounter with Abdullah during his student days when Abdullah was serving as a youth director. Mohd Annuar, who later led Bernama as its chairman, described Abdullah as a person who made people feel comfortable and respected, allowing open and free conversations. Recounting an interview on the Ruang Bicara programme aired by Bernama TV, Mohd Annuar emphasized Abdullah’s distaste for conflict and his efforts to find common ground among differing opinions.

Mohd Annuar, also the president of the Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPK), noted Abdullah’s deep sense of responsibility, viewing his duties as a trust from Allah. Abdullah was consistently mindful of his actions, always considering their implications not only in this world but also in the Hereafter, as he prepared to face Allah on the Day of Judgement.

Abdullah passed away at the National Heart Institute (IJN) at 7.10 pm yesterday at the age of 85.
