Abdul Latif Romly Sets New World Record in F20 Long Jump


New delhi: National Paralympic athlete, Datuk Abdul Latif Romly, made personal history by breaking his own world record in the F20 long jump event at the 2025 World Para Athletics Championships in New Delhi, India, today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the 28-year-old athlete achieved a jump of 7.67 meters on his third attempt, securing the gold medal and surpassing his previous record of 7.64 meters set at the 2018 Asian Championships in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Hassan Dawshi from Saudi Arabia claimed the silver medal with a jump of 7.36 meters, while Matvei Iakushev, competing under the Neutral Paralympic Athlete (NPA) banner, took bronze with a jump of 7.22 meters.

Abdul Latif expressed satisfaction with his performance, highlighting his achievement of breaking both the championship record of 7.61 meters and the world record in New Delhi. He dedicated his medal to his family, stating his intention to balance his training with family time, especially with the arrival of a new baby.
