Kuala lumpur: Dr Abdul Basir V Kunhimohamed has been appointed as the new chief executive officer of Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan (YWP) effective July 1. Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa, who is also the YWP chairman, announced that the appointment is for a two-year term.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Abdul Basir, during his tenure as the YWP Executive Committee chairman from 2024 to June 2025, played a key role in reorganising the foundation’s strategic priorities in welfare, education, and community development in the Federal Territories. His involvement with international organisations under the United Nations, such as the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), highlights his ability to build cross-border cooperation networks.
Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa expressed her confidence in Abdul Basir’s leadership capabilities, citing his combined expertise and experience as crucial for leading YWP to further enhance the welfare and well-being agenda for the people of the Federal Territories, in line with the Malaysia MADANI aspirations.
Abdul Basir holds a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) in Finance and brings with him extensive experience in investment, risk management, and corporate strategy. In addition to his active involvement in academia and scholarly publications, he also contributes to various organisations across the fields of religion, law, and community development.
