Kuala lumpur: Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Management Director Datuk Seri Abdul Aziz Abdul Majid has been appointed Deputy Inspector-General of Police, effective September 9. Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail announced that the appointment received consent from His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, following advice from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the recommendation of the Police Force Commission, as per Clauses 4 and 5 of Article 140 of the Federal Constitution.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Abdul Aziz's wealth of expertise and experience in policing, along with his strong leadership skills, make him an ideal candidate for the role. The government extended its congratulations to Abdul Aziz on his new appointment, underscoring the significance of his contribution to the force.

Abdul Aziz, aged 59, was born in Penaga, Penang, on February 19, 1967. He holds a Master of Social Sciences in Police Studies from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). His career with the PDRM began on July 1, 1995, during which he served in several departments, including the Management Department, Special Branch, Criminal Investigation Department, Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department, Commercial Crime Investigation Department, Logistics and Technology Department, and Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department.

Throughout his career, Abdul Aziz has held several key positions, such as Management Director, Deputy Director of Special Branch, Deputy Director of Narcotics, Penang Police Deputy Chief, Principal Assistant Director of Management Policy/Human Resource, and Principal Assistant Director of the Special Integrated Investigation Team. He has also participated in various international courses and seminars, notably the 8th International Symposium of Best Police Practice in Dubai and the Intelligence Management Development Programme in Australia.
