Kuala lumpur: The National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) and Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) are committed to intensifying efforts in prevention, eradication, and public awareness regarding the threats of drugs and prohibited substances. Its director-general, Datuk Ruslin Jusoh, said that the commitment was expressed after both parties expressed their intention to strengthen strategic cooperation through the signing of a new memorandum of understanding (MoU).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the statement was made after Datuk Ruslin Jusoh paid a courtesy visit to MAG chief executive officer Captain Nasaruddin A Bakar. The meeting aimed to discuss various forms of strategic cooperation, specifically focusing on the new MoU aimed at eradicating drug and substance abuse issues among MAG employees. This initiative is expected to intensify efforts in prevention, eradication, and public awareness regarding the threats of drugs and prohibited substances.

Datuk Ruslin Jusoh stated, "Today, I paid a courtesy visit to the MAG chief executive officer to discuss collaboration between the AADK and MAG in strengthening drug abuse prevention programmes among MAG employees. Our hope with this collaboration is that we can strengthen not only at the AADK level but also simultaneously enhance the role of MAG, particularly Malaysia Airlines, in programmes involving drug prevention in Malaysia."

Furthermore, Ruslin highlighted that one of the main focuses of the discussion was the implementation of various specific prevention programmes, such as the Drug-Free Workplace (TEKAD) initiative, at MAG premises and facilities. This proactive initiative is seen as a critical safety measure to ensure the integrity and safety of flight operations.

"This collaborative step is expected to create a safer, healthier, and drug-free work environment for the well-being of the national aviation service," he added. Also present at the meeting were AADK deputy director-general (Operations) Zainudin Abdullah, along with delegations from both sides.
