A Symbol Of Perseverance, Unity And Sacrifice – PM Anwar

Kuala Lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has invited all Malaysians to enhance the spirit of togetherness, appreciate diversity, and strengthen love in conjunction with the Thaipusam festival, which will be celebrated tomorrow by Hindus in the country.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar emphasized that for Hindus, the Thaipusam celebration is not just a festival, but a symbol of perseverance, determination, and sacrifice in undergoing life’s trials. It reflects their inner strength and discipline in facing challenges. Anwar highlighted that Thaipusam also underscores the spirit of unity in diversity within the nation. It is a testament to how society can unite in an atmosphere full of respect, togetherness, and family.

Anwar noted that when thousands of Hindus gather to make vows and express sacrifices, it manifests collective strength and reflects a society that stands firm in human values, love, and mutual understanding. He stressed that in an increasingly uncertain world, the spirit of mutual respect and acceptance of differences must be the pillar of unity. The uniqueness of different cultures and practices should be seen as a strength rather than a divisive element.

He further remarked that these characteristics make Malaysia a country rich in heritage and noble values, respected not only in the region but also globally. Anwar pointed out that Malaysians are fortunate to be blessed with diversity, which can be a space to foster understanding and love, rather than spreading hatred. He warned that the country will not be safe and advanced if differences are magnified and the principle of harmony is sidelined. Thus, every celebration, unique and different, should be understood by every peace-loving Malaysian who upholds the principle of coexistence.

Anwar concluded by reminding that only by understanding and respecting each other can Malaysians guarantee a civilized, dignified, and prosperous country for all.
