Labuan: A total of 989 students from 25 schools in the Federal Territory of Labuan have been identified as facing school attendance issues, with transportation among the main contributing factors.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh, in a post on Facebook, stated that, as a start, 437 students across six schools would receive assistance through the Student School Transportation Facility in the Federal Territory of Labuan.

She highlighted that the initiative is being executed through a collaboration between the Federal Territories Department and Labuan Corporation, the Labuan Federal Territory Education Department, schools, Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs), and the industry, particularly the Labuan Mini Bus Operators Association.

Hannah emphasized that the collaboration is aimed at ensuring transportation issues no longer hinder students from attending school. She remarked, "There are children who want to go to school. What stands in their way is not a lack of ambition, but the journey to reach the place where they build their future."

She further asserted, "Their future should not be stalled simply because getting to school is difficult," underscoring the importance of overcoming transportation barriers to ensure uninterrupted education for these students.
