727 Media Practitioners Receive Tabung KasihHAWANA Aid So Far, Says Fahmi

Penaga: Tabung KasihHAWANA, introduced in April 2023, has benefited 727 media practitioners nationwide, particularly those affected by health issues and in need of welfare support. Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil announced that over the period, a total of RM2.2 million has been disbursed, emphasizing that the initiative reflects the MADANI Government's ongoing commitment to safeguarding the welfare of the media community, especially those in need.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fahmi expressed the government's dedication today, stating, "Today marks the 727th contribution we have delivered since April 2023, with total spending of about RM2.2 million. This demonstrates our ongoing commitment to supporting the welfare of media practitioners across the country." He further noted the importance of considering the well-being of media personnel, regardless of their organization, due to the nature of their work, which may expose them to various incidents and accidents.

Fahmi made these remarks after presenting Tabung KasihHAWANA assistance to Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) staff member Razif Saidin, who is suffering from chronic nerve complications following a motorcycle accident in 2023. Razif requires ongoing physiotherapy and medication, and the presentation took place at his residence in Penaga. Communications Ministry Secretary-General Datuk Abdul Halim Hamzah and Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) Chief Executive Officer Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin were also present.

In addition to the aid for Razif, Fahmi presented a laptop to Razif's daughter, Nur Insyirah, who achieved excellent results of 9As in the 2025 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination. Fahmi elaborated that his ministry will continue assessing Razif's need for further treatment, including exploring alternative treatments like acupuncture, alongside existing medical care. He emphasized the government's commitment to staying in touch with Razif's family to provide any additional support based on the treatment's outcomes.

Razif, who has served as an assistant engineer with RTM for 21 years, continues to undergo continuous physiotherapy and requires medication to manage his condition. He revealed that his nerve damage at the C4 section of his neck occurred while commuting home from work. Despite resuming work, he still requires treatment, including rehabilitation, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and monitoring by a neurosurgeon at a government hospital.

Razif expressed gratitude for the aid provided by Fahmi and the HAWANA Secretariat, acknowledging the support extended to him and his family. The Tabung KasihHAWANA initiative, launched in conjunction with the celebration of National Journalists' Day (HAWANA) 2023, is an effort by the Ministry of Communications, with Bernama as the implementing agency.
