Putrajaya: A total of 700 incubated homegrown micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) have collectively generated more than RM28 million in sales on TikTok Shop following structured upskilling and digital enablement programmes under initiatives by the Ministry of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development (KUSKOP).
According to BERNAMA News Agency, TikTok revealed that 74 per cent of the incubated sellers are women, reflecting strong participation by female entrepreneurs in Malaysia's growing digital economy. The milestone was highlighted during the launch of the TikTok Shop Bazar Raya at the IOI City Mall Putrajaya Convention Centre last Thursday, held in conjunction with Ramadan and ahead of International Women's Day.
Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Minister Steven Sim commented on the strong participation of women entrepreneurs, emphasizing the inclusivity of the government's efforts to empower local businesses through digital platforms. "The fact that 74 per cent of the 700 incubated sellers are women is a clear testament to the inclusive economic participation fostered through our continuous collaboration with TikTok Shop," he stated. Sim further noted KUSKOP's commitment to upskilling local entrepreneurs to build resilient Malaysian brands and drive meaningful economic growth.
He added that equipping MSMEs with digital capabilities through public-private partnerships would help future-proof small businesses while strengthening local communities' livelihoods. Meanwhile, TikTok Shop Malaysia senior director of strategic partnerships, Nur Azre Abdul Aziz, highlighted the role of TikTok Shop's discovery e-commerce ecosystem in supporting inclusive socio-economic growth, expressing gratitude for the trust of government partners.
Building on this momentum, KUSKOP and TikTok Shop are set to deepen their strategic collaboration through the upcoming expansion of TikTok Shop LIVE Hubs in Pahang and Penang, providing wider access to specialised training and high-quality livestreaming facilities for Malaysian entrepreneurs. To date, the TikTok Shop LIVE Hubs launched in Sabah, Kuala Lumpur, Johor, and Kelantan have hosted over 100 on-ground training sessions and empowered more than 3,000 MSMEs.
This robust infrastructure has facilitated over 1,800 hours of dedicated livestreaming, accumulating more than 40 million views. Malaysians looking to support local MSMEs are invited to visit the TikTok Shop Bazar Raya 2026 to enjoy exciting offers from over 80 seller booths. The TikTok Shop Bazar Raya is open to the public from 10 am to 10 pm daily from March 5 to 8 at the IOI City Mall Putrajaya Convention Centre.
