Kuala lumpur: A total of 600 primary and secondary school students in the Bandar Tun Razak parliamentary constituency received school vouchers worth RM150 each in preparation for the new school session beginning Monday.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the assistance, amounting to a total allocation of RM90,000, was presented by Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, the wife of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the Bandar Tun Razak Member of Parliament, at the Back-to-School assistance presentation for her parliamentary constituency here today.
Dr Wan Azizah stated that the programme, implemented by Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM), aims to ease the financial burden on parents while ensuring students start the new school session with greater confidence and preparedness. She highlighted the significance of this effort, noting that the cash vouchers allow parents to purchase items tailored to their children's needs. This initiative indirectly reduces the financial strain faced by parents or guardians, especially those with multiple school-going children, during crucial periods.
She emphasized the importance of such targeted assistance amid the challenging cost of living in urban areas. The vouchers can be used to purchase school supplies at Pasaraya Hari-Hari. Recipients include students from six zones within the Bandar Tun Razak parliamentary constituency, such as Desa Tasik, Sungai Besi, Alam Damai, Bandar Sri Permaisuri, and Kampung Malaysia.
The event was also attended by the Prime Minister's Political Secretary Datuk Azman Abidin and AIM managing director Datuk Mohamed Shamir Abdul Aziz. Among the recipients was Nur Daniesya Aafiyah Wazir, nine, a pupil of Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Tasik, who expressed her gratitude for the assistance, which she plans to use for necessities like clothing and stationery. Another recipient, Ziyan Hafiy Rizqi, 15, a student of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Perimbun, mentioned that the aid significantly helped ease her parents' burden in providing school supplies.
