5G Subscriptions Nationwide Surge to 18.19 Million in Q4 2024: Fahmi

Kuala Lumpur: The number of 5G network users across the nation has surged to 53.35 percent, with 18.19 million subscriptions recorded by the fourth quarter of last year, as announced by Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil. This milestone is a significant advancement in the country’s telecommunications infrastructure.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fahmi highlighted this achievement as a substantial step forward in a brief period, showcasing the country’s progress toward enhanced telecommunications capabilities. Fahmi shared these insights during the 5G Dual Network Implementation Coordination Meeting, which he chaired at the Ministry of Communications, and later in a Facebook post.

Fahmi further elaborated that 5G coverage in populated areas nationwide reached 82.4 percent during the same timeframe, reinforcing the nation’s digital infrastructure. He emphasized that this development is poised to foster innovation, boost productivity, and deliver benefits to the people of Malaysia.

Additionally, the meeting addressed several specific issues related to the strategic direction of Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) and the impending launch of a second network led by U Mobile, with further announcements anticipated soon.
