Marmaris: A total of 57 Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) vessels are now ready to continue their humanitarian aid voyage to Gaza.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sumud Nusantara Command Centre (SNCC) director-general Datuk Dr Sani Araby Abdul Alim Araby announced the safe arrival of 30 GSF vessels from Crete, Greece at Marmaris Port, Turkiye at 2 am yesterday. These vessels have joined the existing fleet at the port, bringing the total to 57 vessels. The SNCC confirms that all crew members are currently engaged in a coordination process involving participants' arrangement, logistical requirements, sailing technicalities, and final preparations before proceeding with the final phase of the voyage.
Sani Araby assured that all Malaysian participants are in good condition, stable, and ready to continue the humanitarian mission alongside other international delegations. The SNCC also confirmed that two international humanitarian activists and GSF steering committee members, Thiago vila and Saif Abukeshek, were released after being detained in international waters near Greece for 11 days since April 30 by regime authorities. The interception of GSF vessels and the detention of the two activists is seen as a serious violation of human rights and international law.
On April 30, Sani Araby reported that six of the 22 vessels intercepted by Israeli regime forces in international waters while heading to Gaza included 10 Malaysians. These individuals were aboard various vessels, including Arkham III, Eros 1, Bianca BCN, Freia, Marea, and Esplai. The mission underscores efforts to establish a humanitarian maritime corridor under international law, as outlined in the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
Sani Araby urged Malaysians to continue advocacy efforts for Gaza and Palestine's liberation by spreading verified facts and countering regime propaganda through media platforms. He emphasized the importance of special prayers and continuous support for the mission's safety and success.
The GSF 2.0 initiative is an international coalition combining maritime efforts with global mobilisation movements on land. It includes legal advocacy and solidarity campaigns aimed at breaking the blockade on Gaza in response to the humanitarian crisis in the territory.
