5,500 Participants Expected To Join, Promote Melaka Traditions In Duyong Kita Run.

KUALA LUMPUR: Over 5,500 participants are expected to join the fun run, dubbed Larian Budaya Antarabangsa Duyong Kita 2024, slated for Dec 22 in Melaka, in conjunction with Visit Melaka Year 2024. Duyong assemblyman Datuk Mohd Noor Helmy Abdul Halem said the event is organised to encourage society to adopt a healthy lifestyle through physical activities, while also fostering stronger family bonds among participants.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the fun run is not only a family-friendly event but also aims to positively impact the promotion of Melaka’s traditions and culture. Datuk Mohd Noor Helmy emphasized the dual purpose of the event during an appearance on Bernama TV’s Apa Khabar Malaysia programme. The 5.5-kilometer run will commence at 7.30 am at the Tun Fatimah Stadium in Bukit Serindit and conclude at the same location, featuring a superhero and traditional costume theme.

Participants include locals as well as individuals from Brunei, Indonesia, Singapore, and Bangladesh. Notably, the youngest
participant is an eight-month-old baby, and the oldest is 80 years old. The event promises a day filled with activities, including a lucky draw with prizes such as a motorcycle, electrical appliances, and solar panels with installation.

The participation fee is set at RM10, and interested individuals can register online through the Larian Budaya Antarabangsa Duyong Kita 2024 social media platforms.
