Sungai Buloh: A total of 5,500 food baskets containing essential items were distributed to underprivileged and B40 families in the Sungai Buloh parliamentary constituency to help ease their burden ahead of Aidilfitri. Sungai Buloh Member of Parliament Datuk Seri R. Ramanan stated that the food basket donation programme was an annual initiative, through which he distributed food aid to all Unity Government component parties and non-governmental organisations.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, this distribution reflects the spirit of political unity in the Sungai Buloh parliamentary constituency. Ramanan emphasized the importance of standing together and helping one another to ensure that the needs of the local community, especially the B40 group, are always taken care of through various initiatives and programmes. He expressed these sentiments after handing over 1,500 food baskets to the heads of the Sungai Buloh UMNO branches.
The food baskets were distributed under the Salam Aidilfitri Kasih MADANI Programme, contributed by Yayasan Bank Rakyat in collaboration with the Sungai Buloh Parliamentary Community Service Centre. Sungai Buloh UMNO Division chief Datuk Megat Firdaus mentioned that Ramanan initially allocated 1,000 food baskets for UMNO branch chiefs, but due to high demand, the number was increased to 1,500.
The 104 branch chiefs will identify around 15 residents from the B40 and asnaf groups in their respective branches to receive the food baskets. The recipients are not required to be UMNO branch members, and those eligible include single mothers and the poor.
