50,000 Families in Selangor Eligible for ‘Kita Selangor’ Voucher Assistance

Shah alam: A total of 50,000 families in Selangor are eligible to apply for assistance through the 'Kita Selangor Voucher' initiative starting from noon tomorrow. Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari announced that the initiative offers RM100 per month for six months, with an overall allocation of RM30 million, and applications can be submitted online via the official portal at www.baucarkitaselangor.com.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the initiative aims to mitigate the impact of price hikes on the livelihood of Selangor's residents. The program also extends special consideration to single mothers with a household income of RM5,000 and below. The target group is identified using data from government agencies, ensuring that applicants who have not received other assistance, like the Bantuan Kehidupan Sejahtera Selangor (BINGKAS) programme, are prioritized.

The assistance will be distributed directly into the e-wallet accounts of recipients, minimizing leakage risks and allowing the state government to monitor aid usage and spending patterns. Amirudin highlighted that this method, previously implemented in the BINGKAS programme, enables tracking of spending and determining whether recipients are actively using the assistance.

Amirudin also mentioned that 50,000 low-income households in Selangor would receive RM100 monthly cash aid for six months starting June 30, under the Selangor Resilience Strengthening Package Phase 1 announced in April. Additionally, the state government will continue the BINGKAS programme, providing RM300 monthly to 30,000 families to combat poverty, with RM138 million allocated for direct assistance.

He emphasized the development of a long-term strategy to reduce reliance on cash aid through skills and entrepreneur development programmes, aiming to match aid recipients with better job opportunities and improve their living standards.
