4th PDRM Dialogue to Focus on Road Safety and Traffic Management, Announces Home Minister

Kuala lumpur: The upcoming fourth edition of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Special Dialogue, slated for the last quarter of this year, will primarily address road safety and traffic management, with a special focus on issues surrounding motorcycle convoys. This announcement was made by Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, who emphasized the need for a strategic approach to tackle challenges such as legal violations and accidents.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Minister Saifuddin stressed the importance of having detailed discussions on various aspects, including convoy-related issues. He highlighted that there are already established standard operating procedures and Inspector-General of Police’s standing orders that dictate the permissible actions during convoys. For instance, marshals assigned by event organizers have specific limitations, such as not being permitted to control other vehicles or bypass red lights.

The announcement comes in the wake of recent reports of five fatalities during the RXZ Members 7.0 gathering in Kuala Nerus, Terengganu. This tragic incident underscores the urgency of addressing road safety concerns, particularly during large motorcycle events.

In addition to the PDRM Special Dialogue, the Home Ministry has scheduled two other significant events. The PDRM Security Symposium (PSS), set to occur from January 26 to 28 next year, will focus on advancements in technology and innovation related to safety and public security. Furthermore, the Asia International Security Summit and Expo (ACE), planned for January 2027, is expected to serve as a major platform for global security technology solution providers.
