Arau: The highly anticipated Pesta Angin Timur Perlis 2025 (PAT 2025) is set to draw an estimated 400,000 visitors when it takes place at Kampung Lat Seribu, Tambun Tulang in Arau from Feb 21 to 23.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Perlis Menteri Besar, Mohd Shukri Ramli, expressed confidence in meeting this target, citing the steady rise in visitor numbers in recent years. The 2024 edition of the festival recorded 369,159 attendees, up from 332,803 in 2023.
The festival promises a lineup of activities, including a Traditional Kite Competition, Giant Straw Sculpture Contest, Mud Challenge, Beyblade Tournament, Rice Field Volleyball Tournament, and a Fireworks Display. The Mud Challenge is expected to add an international flair, with participants from Africa, Thailand, Indonesia, and Australia.
The festival is expected to generate RM3 million in sales, surpassing the RM2.8 million recorded last year and RM1.5 million in 2023. For PAT 2025, 225 business lots will be provided for entrepreneurs, with sales beginning two days ahead of the festival on Feb 21.
Now in its 13th edition, PAT is organised by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) in collaboration with the Perlis state government, with the Perlis National Department for Culture and Arts (JKKN) and the Perlis State Cultural Council overseeing its management.
