34 Traders Seek Deferment Of Relocation To Raja Bot Complex

Kuala lumpur: A total of 34 premises owners in Lorong Haji Hussein, Chow Kit, here are requesting that the order for their relocation to the Raja Bot Market Complex be deferred until its development project is fully completed. Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani, who is also Titiwangsa MP, said that while most traders agreed with the move, they wanted the project completed first to ensure the continuity of their businesses.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Johari emphasized the importance of completing the Raja Bot Market Complex before relocating the traders. He noted that the complex had been left incomplete for nearly a decade, leading to concerns about the viability of conducting business amid ongoing construction work. "If small traders are moved in at this time, no one will be able to do business because construction work is still ongoing," Johari stated in a Facebook post today.

He mentioned that he would bring this matter to the attention of Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Seri Fadlun Mak Ujud, seeking a resolution that would consider the traders' interests. Previously, issues had arisen regarding the readiness of traders at the Raja Bot Market, also known as Chow Kit Market, to relocate. Traders expressed concerns about potential sales declines due to a lack of customers during the restructuring phase.
