34 Gloria Jean’s Coffees Outlets Receive Halal Certification from JAKIM

Kuala Lumpur: Perbadanan Nasional Berhad (Pernas), through its subsidiary Wonderful Lifestyle Sdn Bhd, has announced that 34 Gloria Jean’s Coffees (GJC) outlets have been awarded halal certification by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the certificates were presented by Pernas’s Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Nor Azam M Taib, during a ceremony. In his address, Nor Azam emphasized the importance of this milestone, highlighting it as crucial for reinforcing consumer confidence in local franchise offerings.

Nor Azam commented, “Halal certification goes beyond market requirements – it reflects integrity, discipline, and commitment to delivering clean and quality products to customers.” He credited the achievement to strong collaboration between Gloria Jean’s Coffees management, guidance from JAKIM, and support from the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP).

The certification from JAKIM confirms the comprehensive application of halal standards, including documentation, operations, and stringent monitoring. This not only boosts trust in the brand but also aligns GJC with other leading coffee franchises committed to halal compliance.

“As an internationally recognised certifying body, JAKIM applies a thorough and rigorous process,” the statement continued. “With the commitment of GJC’s management, close cooperation from franchisees, and support from JAKIM, all 34 outlets successfully met the certification requirements.”

The process commenced on August 14, 2024, and involved implementing halal standard operating procedures across all GJC outlets nationwide. The initiative was facilitated by a compliance grant from KUSKOP. As an agency under KUSKOP, Pernas is dedicated to empowering local franchise entrepreneurs to expand their reach both domestically and internationally, with trusted, high-quality brands.
