3,000 Indian Families in Sungai Buloh Receive Deepavali Food Baskets

Sungai buloh: A total of 3,000 Indian families from the B40 community in the Sungai Buloh parliamentary constituency received the Deepavali Vanakam MADANI food baskets in conjunction with the Deepavali celebration this year. Sungai Buloh Member of Parliament Datuk Seri R. Ramanan said the initiative is part of the ‘Vanakam MADANI’ programme, the result of a collaboration between the Sungai Buloh Parliamentary Constituency People’s Service Centre and Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM), which aims to bring joy to the people and strengthen the local community economy.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives emphasized that the programme is not merely a welfare aid, but a symbol of the government’s love and concern for everyone ahead of Deepavali. “Every food basket carries a significant meaning, not just to help meet household needs, but also to fill their hearts with hope and renewed spirit. Deepavali is about light that shines from sincerity,” he stated.

Ramanan detailed the contents of the food baskets, which include essential items such as rice, cooking oil, muruku flour, adhirasam flour, dhal, sesame oil, and various types of cordial beverages. These items are synonymous with the Deepavali celebration, which falls on October 20 this year. He added that apart from the distribution of the food baskets, the Sungai Buloh parliamentary constituency people’s service centre also organised the MADANI Cooperative Sale in the Kota Damansara and Paya Jaras state constituencies. The sale offered discounts of up to 50 percent, among the highest nationwide.

Meanwhile, Ramanan expressed his gratitude to all the volunteers, government agencies, and AIM for their efforts in ensuring the success of the food basket distribution, aligning with the spirit of the MADANI Economy.
