Banting: Nearly 84 per cent of the Kuala Langat Selatan Forest Reserve fire in Banting has been extinguished, leaving 3.64 hectares still burning two days after the blaze broke out. Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) operations officer Hamdan Hamzah reported that collaborative efforts with various agencies have successfully put out the fire across 19.02 hectares so far, with today's firefighting operations divided into three sectors.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, a total of 22.66 hectares were affected by the fire, which ignited around midday last Tuesday. Despite the ongoing fire and small hotspots, Hamzah assured that they do not pose a threat to nearby settlements or the Water Treatment Plant.
Today's operations saw Strike Team A utilizing Wajax hose lines from open water sources in Sector A, Strike Team B focusing on suppression efforts in Sector B, and Strike Team C monitoring and extinguishing the fire using fire beaters in Sector C. Hamdan further stated that the operation, now in its third day, involves 35 officers and personnel from various related agencies.
