28-Year-Old Muhammad Faris Johari Appointed as New Undang of Sungei Ujong

Seremban: Waris Nan Tua Klana Hulu, in collaboration with the Ibu Soko and other clan representatives, have appointed Muhammad Faris Johari, an accountant aged 28, as the new Undang of Luak Sungei Ujong.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the appointment of Muhammad Faris as Datuk Klana Petra, the 11th Undang of Sungei Ujong, was formalized during a customary installation ceremony held at Telaga Undang on April 22. The joint statement issued by the Waris Nan Tua Klana Hulu emphasized the consensus reached among the clan members to appoint Muhammad Faris. The ceremony adhered to customary laws, focusing on justice, lineage, and tradition.

The appointment received further endorsement from the Ibu Soko and clan representatives of Klana Hilir and was witnessed by Ibu Soko Waris Negeri, Waris Negeri, Datuk Lembaga Lingkungan, To' Buapak Lingkungan, and government officials. The selection process followed the genealogical criteria specified under Clause 27 of the Teromba and Genealogy of Sungei Ujong 1910, alongside the customary principles outlined in Clause 5 of the Sungei Ujong laws.

Additionally, the appointment was confirmed by Datuk Andulika Mandalika Zainol Ariffin Ibrahim, the recognized Tua Lembaga Waris di-Darat, under the Negeri Sembilan state authority, in accordance with Clause 48 (VI) of the Teromba. The customary process is designed to ensure that the appointment of Datuk Klana Petra is carried out independently, as mandated by Clause 14(1) of the Negeri Sembilan State Constitution 1959.
