268 Houses Built Under Sinar Lestari Programme Across Malaysia

Kuala lumpur: The Sinar Lestari programme, initiated by the Malaysian Islamic Economic Development Foundation (YAPEIM), continues to make a significant difference for those in need, with 268 houses constructed nationwide to date. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Dr. Zulkifli Hasan announced the achievement, highlighting the program's success in providing comfortable homes for the underprivileged.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the houses, each costing RM80,000, were built with the support of strategic partners. YAPEIM has planned the construction of 374 houses nationwide since 2020, with 268 completed so far. Efforts are ongoing to reach the overall target. In Terengganu alone, 35 houses have been built, valued at nearly RM2 million, showcasing the program's progress.

Dr. Zulkifli emphasized the continued efforts and partnerships that have strengthened the Sinar Lestari programme's implementation. The collaboration with the Sultan Mizan Royal Foundation has amplified the program's impact, ensuring that the initiative not only provides housing but also improves the recipients' overall standard of living. The construction period for these houses is around four months, allowing for prompt delivery of assistance to targeted groups.

The programme offers more than just housing; it includes grants and entrepreneurial support to help recipients generate income. Dr. Zulkifli cited the example of Mohd Kamal Yaakob, a recipient who plans to open a car and motorcycle workshop to support his family financially.

Grateful recipient Siti Rosaida Abdul Rahman, along with her husband Mohd Kamal Yaakob, expressed their gratitude for the assistance. Previously living in a cramped single room, their lives have transformed with the new house, which features three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Siti Rosaida conveyed her thanks to the government for this life-changing assistance.
