240 Students Compete in Practical Exam at 2025 Asian Physics Olympiad

Dhahran: Today, 240 students representing 30 countries took the first tests of the 25th Asian Physics Olympiad 2025, held at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in Dhahran. The tests were translated into the languages of the participating countries under the supervision of 110 international specialists.

According to Union of OIC News Agencies, the five-hour practical exam is an essential part of this competition, one of the most prestigious international physics competitions for high school students, and aims to enhance critical and creative thinking among outstanding students in this field.

The Olympiad includes two main tests: one practical and the other theoretical. Each test lasts five hours and is based on precise scientific criteria prepared and evaluated by the International Olympiad Council. Students are required to perform at their best in a highly competitive environment.

It’s worth noting that the first edition of the Asian Physics Olympiad was launched in 1999 in Indonesia, with the
participation of 12 countries. It is considered one of the most prominent annual international science competitions targeting talented high school students in physics. The Kingdom has won 16 international medals and awards from this competition.
