Kuala lumpur: The Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) aims to prevent logistics issues during the 2027 SEA Games, which will be hosted across Sarawak, Penang, Johor, and Kuala Lumpur. Dr. Mohammed Taufiq Johari, the minister, acknowledged the challenge of organizing the event across multiple locations but assured that KBS is committed to effective coordination.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, discussions with the Malaysia SEA Games Organising Committee (MASOC) 2027 Secretariat are progressing well. The preparations are currently in Phase 1, focusing on athlete readiness and facility arrangements. Dr. Taufiq emphasized the importance of avoiding logistics problems and expressed confidence in the preparations being made with the cooperation of all involved parties. Details such as the number of sports to be contested are still being finalized.
Dr. Taufiq, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for Sungai Petani, recently participated in the Rakan Muda Tour @ Rakan Muda Sahur Programme, distributing meals to essential workers in Alor Setar.
In other news, Dr. Taufiq commented on the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) focus on the 2027 AFC Asian Cup qualifying match against Vietnam. He highlighted the ongoing appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) concerning seven Harimau Malaya heritage players. He stressed the importance of the decision and urged national team supporters to remain calm and avoid speculation.
