Kuala lumpur: The national football team, Harimau Malaya, achieved a 1-0 victory against Nepal in the 2027 Asian Cup Qualifiers at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium, maintaining their unbeaten record in Group F. Despite the absence of seven suspended heritage players, Malaysia leads the group with 15 points after five matches.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Malaysia’s victory over Nepal solidifies their position at the top of Group F, with Vietnam trailing in second place with nine points and Laos in third with three points. Nepal remains at the bottom without any points. Both Vietnam and Laos have played one match less than Malaysia.
The match began with Malaysia creating several scoring opportunities, putting pressure on the Nepalese defense to prevent early goals. One of the closest chances came in the 37th minute when a cross from Mohamad Faisal Abdul Halim was headed by Dion Cools, only to be saved by Nepal’s goalkeeper, Kiran Kumar Limbu.
The breakthrough for Malaysia came in the second half with a goal in the 55th minute. A well-timed pass from Muhammad Safawi Rasid allowed Mohamad Faisal to score, giving Malaysia the lead. Despite Nepal’s efforts to respond with counter-attacks, they were unable to breach Malaysia’s defense.
Malaysia maintained control of the game and had a chance to extend their lead with a penalty kick in the 90th minute, but Paulo Josu© missed the opportunity, resulting in a narrow victory. This match marks Malaysia’s final game for the year, with their next Group F encounter against Vietnam scheduled for March 31 next year in Hanoi.
