2025 SEA Games: National Sepak Takraw Squad Prepares Backup Plan Amid Injury Concerns

Kuala lumpur: The national sepak takraw squad is ready with a Plan B should several key players for the quadrant event not recover in time to compete at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand, this December. National squad head coach, Ahmad Jais Baharun, informed that players such as Mohamad Azlan Alias, Farhan Adam, and Norfaizzul Abd Razak are currently undergoing treatment at the National Sports Institute (ISN), which is putting some pressure on the team’s final preparations.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ahmad Jais mentioned that the current situation involves several players still undergoing treatment, which poses a challenge to the squad. The team continues its preparation training to strengthen players in terms of attack and defense, hoping that no further injuries occur.

To address this, the team has initiated a precautionary Plan B, which includes starting simulation training for new players for the quadrant event. Additionally, as part of their final preparation, the players are scheduled to travel to Ratchaburi, Thailand, from November 19 to 24 to hold test matches against former Thai national players.

Commenting on the target for the 2025 SEA Games, Ahmad Jais acknowledged the goal set by the Malaysian Sepaktakraw Federation (PSM), which aims to secure two gold medals in the men’s regu and men’s quadrant events in Thailand.
