2025 SEA Games: Malaysia Will Depend On Experienced Shooters To Gun Down Four Gold Medals

Kuala lumpur: The national shooting squad is fielding a line-up of ace shooters to hunt for success at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand this December. Team manager for the 2025 SEA Games shooting squad, Major (Rtd) Jasni Shaari, said the team’s main hopes for success are being placed on Johnathan Wong, Nur Suryani Mohamed Taibi, and Alia Sazana Azahari, all of whom have extensive experience competing on the international stage, including the Olympic Games and World Championships.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Jasni Shaari stated that a total of 29 shooters will carry the nation’s challenge in three main events involving pistol, rifle, and shotgun in Thailand. He acknowledged the strength of competitors like Vietnam and Indonesia but expressed confidence in the Malaysian squad’s ability to secure medals, aiming for up to four golds with their experienced shooters.

Alia Sazana, one of the key shooters, is particularly focused on achieving a gold medal in the 25-meter pistol event, aiming to surpass her silver medal performance at the 2021 edition in Hanoi, Vietnam. She expressed her determination to fight until the very end, highlighting her dedication to not give up in her fourth SEA Games appearance.

The 2025 SEA Games is scheduled to take place from December 9 to 20 in three provinces: Bangkok, Chonburi, and Songkhla.
