Beijing: The 2025 Global Digital Economy Conference (GDEC 2025) will officially open on July 2, as announced during a press conference in Beijing on June 23. With the theme “Building a Digitally Friendly City,” this year’s event will feature a “1+6+N” framework, which includes opening ceremonies, a main forum, thematic forums, and special events. The conference aims to serve as a platform for global digital economy development, focusing on the harmonious coexistence between technology and humanity, as well as cities and ecosystems. It will highlight four key aspects: openness and sharing, cutting-edge focus, industrial integration, and enhanced experience.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will join as a co-organizer for the first time at this year’s conference. They will launch the “UNDP Digital Friendliness and Sustainable Innovation Lab for the Digital Economy” as part of their collaboration projects. The conference is also expanding its international reach to Europe, establishing partnerships with events such as the Mobile World Congress Barcelona 2025 and Germany’s FUTUROMUNDO Multikonferenz and Festival. These collaborations aim to promote China’s approach to global digital transformation.
