Kedah: The Kedah Information Department (JAPEN) has called on Kedahans from all walks of life to enliven the 2026 National Day and Malaysia Day (HKHM 2026) celebrations through the '1 House, 1 Jalur Gemilang' (1R1JG) Campaign. State JAPEN director Nurazila Azizan emphasized the campaign's simple call for Malaysians to express their love and pride for the country by hoisting the national flag at their respective homes.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Nurazila noted, "August is synonymous with National Day, and even kindergarten children know about it. Therefore, parents need to play their role by taking the first step of hoisting the Jalur Gemilang at home so that their children can see the spirit and be excited to practise it." She highlighted the affordability of the flag, encouraging families to decorate their homes as a tangible expression of patriotism.

Nurazila also urged the expansion of this effort beyond residential areas to include government premises, business premises, private-sector premises, schools, and vehicles. To maximize the campaign's reach and impact, JAPEN has mobilized all its resources to engage with the public directly. Moreover, the MADANI Communities have been empowered as information dissemination agents to convey these messages to local communities.

The 1R1JG campaign has been further expanded to cover nine main clusters, including education, health, security, industry, places of worship, and sports. JAPEN aims to share stories about the Jalur Gemilang in a relaxed and easy-to-understand manner to invigorate National Month.

Addressing the role of young people as the nation's future, Nurazila dismissed the notion that the younger generation lacks patriotism, emphasizing their creative expressions through various platforms. "They express their love for the country through producing creative materials, composing songs and creating engaging content on social media. We cannot force young people to follow the old ways; they can do it according to their own preferences, as long as they do not stray from the proper path and do not touch on sensitive issues," she stated.

Nurazila concluded by reminding the public to adhere to the proper etiquette and procedures for hoisting the flag, ensuring it is in good condition and not displayed indiscriminately.
