1R1JG Campaign Includes Worship and Sports Venues for 2026 Celebrations

Kuala lumpur: The 1 House 1 Jalur Gemilang (1R1JG) campaign, celebrated in conjunction with National Day and Malaysia Day 2026 (HKHM2026), has been broadened to encompass houses of worship and sports venues as new clusters. This expansion aims to encourage wider community participation in displaying the national flag.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohd Haizul Hod, director of the Information Department (JAPEN) Media and Corporate Communications Division, noted that the campaign was previously focused on seven sectors: industry, education, security, health, government agencies, higher education, and community sectors. The campaign included distributing flag kits to schools and engaging private parties at shopping complexes and business centers.

"This year, we have expanded the initiative by including houses of worship and sports premises as new clusters to ensure more comprehensive participation. This will see the Jalur Gemilang being flown at sports facilities and places of worship, including mosques," Mohd Haizul said during Bernama TV's Apa Khabar Malaysia programme.

He emphasized that displaying the Jalur Gemilang at various locations is expected to boost patriotic spirit and nurture a stronger sense of national pride among Malaysians. He encouraged Malaysians to fly the Jalur Gemilang throughout the year and not just during the National Month.

Mohd Haizul also urged the public to uphold the dignity of the Jalur Gemilang by ensuring it is displayed correctly and using only flags in good condition, as they represent the nation's pride and identity. He addressed concerns about worn-out flags from previous years and suggested that replacing them should not pose a financial burden due to their reasonable price.

In addition, he lauded the efforts of residents' associations providing flags and installation services, as these initiatives can enliven residential areas and foster unity through community activities. Social media users were also encouraged to feature the Jalur Gemilang in their profile pictures, ensuring the flag image is displayed properly and respectfully.

The National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang 2026 campaign launch, as part of HKHM2026, will take place at the Institut Latihan Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia Sultan Azlan Shah, Tanjung Rambutan, Perak, on July 19, with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expected to officiate. The event will be available for live streaming via Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM), Bernama, and the official social media platforms of the Ministry of Communications, JAPEN, and the Merdeka360 portal.
