16-Year-Old Schoolgirl Fatally Stabbed in Petaling Jaya School Attack

Petaling jaya: A 16-year-old girl was tragically stabbed to death at a secondary school this morning, with police reporting that she was attacked with two different weapons.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Petaling Jaya District Police chief ACP Shamsudin Mamat revealed that the victim sustained multiple stab wounds, believed to have resulted in her death. ‘We found numerous stab marks, but the exact number of times the victim was stabbed has yet to be determined. The post-mortem examination is still underway and will determine the exact cause of death,’ he stated.

The police are currently investigating the motive behind the attack, considering various possibilities, including social media claims suggesting that the suspect acted out of frustration over unreciprocated feelings. ‘The investigation is still ongoing and being conducted thoroughly. Statements from students are still being recorded, and all information will be carefully scrutinised,’ ACP Shamsudin added.

A special investigation task force has been formed by the Petaling Jaya District Police Headquarters, with assistance from the forensic unit and the Selangor Police Contingent Headquarters. The suspect, a 14-year-old male student, was confirmed to have been studying in the same school as the victim, who was in Form Three, while he was in a transition class equivalent to Form One.

The incident, which occurred at 9.30 am, has left the school community in shock. Meanwhile, at the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC), grief-stricken family members of the victim gathered at the Pathology Department to await the results of the post-mortem examination.

Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Khalid Ismail confirmed that the victim died on the scene within the school compound, and the young suspect was promptly apprehended following the incident.
