Kuala lumpur: The 149th Meeting of Menteris Besar and Chief Ministers, chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the Parliament Building, concentrated on efforts to bolster and rejuvenate the national economy amidst global uncertainties stemming from conflicts in West Asia.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar highlighted that the meeting also assessed the country's readiness to tackle the El Ni±o phenomenon. This climatic event is anticipated to impact water supply, agriculture, and food security, while heightening the risk of extreme heat and haze. The discussions emphasized the need for policies and initiatives to be implemented in an integrated and efficient manner, focusing on economic competitiveness, investment attraction, and the overall well-being of Malaysians.
The meeting also reviewed various government initiatives aimed at economic strengthening and recovery, considering the challenges posed by the West Asian conflicts that have disrupted the global economy. Anwar noted that the spirit of unity and consensus during the meeting would continue to fortify relations between the Federal Government and state governments, ensuring that development benefits are widely distributed among all Malaysians.
