Negeri Sembilan: The Negeri Sembilan Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department has issued 1,497 summonses for red light violations during a special operation conducted from March 12 to 22.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, State police chief Datuk Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof revealed that an additional 572 summonses were issued for various other offences. These included illegal modification of exhaust systems, driving without a licence, and missing registration numbers, all under Section 64(1) of the Road Transport Act.
The operation, dubbed ‘Op Khas Lampu Isyarat Merah,’ specifically targeted motorists, with a particular focus on food and parcel delivery riders who failed to stop at red lights. The initiative aimed to raise awareness among motorists through legal action, with the broader goal of reducing the number of accidents at traffic lights, which have been on the rise.
Ahmad Dzaffir further informed that during this operation, a total of 2,383 vehicles were inspected. The information was shared during a press briefing after the launch of Operasi Selamat 24 for Hari Raya Aidilfitri at the Nilai Toll Plaza.
