146 Individuals Detained In Anti-drugs Operation In Terengganu

Terengganu: The National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) detained 146 individuals, including four women, in a five-day operation carried out in Terengganu from last Saturday until today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Terengganu AADK director Arzmi Abdullah stated that the arrests were made across three districts: Kemaman, Setiu, and Marang. The individuals, aged between 18 and 61, were detained under Section 3(1) of the Drug Dependants (Treatment and Rehabilitation) Act 1983 after testing positive for drugs.

Arzmi Abdullah revealed that 142 men and four women were among those arrested. He noted that 132 individuals tested positive for methamphetamine, seven for heroin, and another seven for ketum.

The operation uncovered a range of individuals involved, including civil servants, laborers, restaurant workers, and a single mother. Arzmi emphasized the diverse backgrounds of those apprehended.

The operation involved six officers and 69 personnel, focusing on curbing drug and prohibited substance abuse in known areas and clearing locations identified as drug dens. Arzmi affirmed AADK's commitment to intensifying efforts in detection and arrest operations to ensure those affected receive appropriate treatment and rehabilitation.
