KUALA LUMPUR: The number of flood evacuees in Malaysia has decreased slightly, with 138,052 individuals currently housed in relief centers across nine states. This figure marks a reduction from the 140,896 evacuees recorded last night as floodwaters begin to recede in certain areas.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, in Kelantan, the number of evacuees has dropped to 85,778 from 26,781 families this morning, down from 88,742 evacuees last night. These evacuees are distributed across 251 relief centers, with Pasir Mas having the highest number at 29,361, followed by other districts such as Tumpat and Kota Bharu.
In Terengganu, the evacuee count has reduced to 39,865 from 10,703 families, as recorded this morning. The Terengganu State Disaster Management Committee reports that the number of active relief centers in eight districts has decreased from 283 to 271.
In Negeri Sembilan, the Info Bencana portal indicates a decrease in evacuees to 1,139 from 297 families. These individuals are currently sheltered at
eight relief centers across Kuala Pilah, Tampin, and Jempol, including 780 adults, 344 children, and 15 infants.
In Perlis, the number of evacuees is reported at 68, housed at SK Arau in Arau. Meanwhile, Perak has seen an increase in evacuees to 590 people from 177 families, up from 130 last night, with individuals accommodated at nine relief centers.
Johor has also experienced a rise in evacuees, now numbering 803 from 226 families. The State Disaster Management Committee has listed several operational centers in the Segamat district where these evacuees are currently located.
In Kedah, the number of evacuees has risen to 8,051 from 2,449 families. The Kedah APM deputy director notes that evacuees from six districts are being housed at 49 relief centers, with Kota Setar having the highest numbers.
Pahang has reported an increase in evacuees to 1,517 from 502 families, up from 1,230 last night. Raub continues to report the highest number of evacuees in the state.
In Melaka, the number of evacuees remains
stable at 241 from 58 families, with individuals spread across Melaka Tengah, Alor Gajah, and Jasin.
