12 Police Personnel Suspended Over Cryptocurrency Theft

Cheras: Twelve police personnel have been temporarily suspended from active duties in connection with the theft of cryptocurrency from Chinese nationals. Inspector-General of Police, Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail, confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, with statements being taken from those involved. Further actions will be decided once the investigation is complete.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the officers have been reassigned to non-operational duties to ensure the investigation proceeds without interference. This decision was made public by Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail during the Yayasan Seri Negara donation ceremony and the handover of Zakat Wakalah by PBLT Sdn Bhd at the Cheras District Police Headquarters.

The event was attended by notable figures including Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, the wife of the Prime Minister and Member of Parliament for Bandar Tun Razak. During the event, Mohd Khalid emphasized that the police force will take decisive action against any officers found guilty of illegal activities.

He firmly stated, "We will not tolerate any wrongdoing. If the law is broken, we will take action and press charges where necessary." This statement underscores the commitment to uphold the integrity of the police force.

On Friday, Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar confirmed the officers' detention in connection with the cryptocurrency theft that occurred in Kajang earlier this month, adding another layer of seriousness to the ongoing investigation.
