Sibu: A total of 106 Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK) in the Bawang Assan state constituency each received an RM1,000 grant from the Sarawak state government today. Senator Robert Lau Hui Yew explained that the disbursement comes from an annual special allocation provided by the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) to its senators, though the total allocation was not disclosed.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, this special grant allows GPS Senators to undertake work in constituencies across Sarawak. Senator Lau mentioned that six of the GPS senators recently paid a courtesy visit to the Sarawak Premier at the Satria Pertiwi Complex in Petra Jaya, Kuching. He made these remarks during the handover ceremony for the Rural Transformation grants held at the SUPP Sibu headquarters.
Senator Lau noted that although the grant is modest, it can be put to effective use by the JKKKs to fund programmes and activities that benefit their communities. He emphasized that Sarawak's political stability stems from firm leadership and strong multi-ethnic unity, conditions that must be preserved to maintain the state's influential and respected standing within the Federation of Malaysia.
