10-Year-Old Boy Missing After Incident in Sungai Selisek

Sungai selisek: A 10-year-old boy is feared to have drowned after he was believed to have been swept away by current in Sungai Nilam, Sungai Selisek, Hulu Selangor, this afternoon.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) assistant operations director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar stated that his department received an emergency call at 1.40 pm. A team of personnel from the Kuala Kubu Baharu Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched to the incident location, which is about 40 kilometres away.

Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar noted that search efforts are being conducted by firefighters at the location. The first engine arrived at the site at 2.35 pm, equipped with five personnel, a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT), a Hilux, and a boat.

Meanwhile, Hulu Selangor district police chief ACP Ibrahim Husin reported that initial investigations suggest the victim fell while playing on the riverbank and was subsequently swept away by the current. The search and rescue operation commenced at 2 pm and continued until 7 pm before being suspended due to worsening weather conditions.

ACP Ibrahim Husin mentioned that the search operation is set to resume the following morning, involving 48 personnel from various agencies, including JBPM, the Civil Defence Force, the Ministry of Health, and volunteers. The victim was reportedly wearing a pink short-sleeved shirt and black shorts at the time of the incident.

He urged members of the public with any information to assist in the investigation by reaching out to the nearest police station or the Hulu Selangor district police headquarters at 03-60641222.
