10-Year-Old Boy Dies in Motorcycle-Lorry Collision in Kuala Krai

Kuala krai: A 10-year-old boy was killed after the motorcycle he was riding with his uncle collided with a lorry at Jalan Kampung Chenis, Pahi, here today. Kuala Krai district deputy police chief DSP Mohd Maizan Mustaffa reported that the incident occurred at 10.55 am. The lorry was en route to Kampung Chenis from the Kota Bharu-Gua Musang main road to deliver soil, while the motorcycle, ridden by the victim's 35-year-old uncle, was heading to the boy's grandfather's house at Bukit Pelampong.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the collision happened at the accident site when the motorcycle hit the right side of the lorry coming from the opposite direction. The boy, who was the pillion rider, sustained head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His uncle, however, suffered only minor injuries.

The victim's body has been transported to the Forensic Unit of Sultan Ismail Petra Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The case is currently under investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. DSP Mohd Maizan Mustaffa has urged members of the public with any information regarding the accident to contact the Kuala Krai district police headquarters traffic police station or the investigating officer, Insp Nurhasmira Tajol, at 09-9666222.
