Kuala lumpur: A total of 1.12 million Employees Provident Fund (EPF) members have made voluntary contributions amounting to RM14.13 billion as of August this year, according to the Ministry of Finance (MoF). In efforts to help members build their retirement savings, the EPF has provided various channels to facilitate contributions by members.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, in a written reply in the Dewan Rakyat, the ministry stated that as of August 2025, a total of 227,000 EPF members have registered to contribute more than the statutory employee contribution rate. The MoF was responding to a question from Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal (Bukit Gantang) regarding plans to encourage citizens to open EPF accounts.
Meanwhile, the ministry highlighted that for the first half of 2025, the i-Saraan programme recorded total contributions of RM2.8 billion from 487,375 members. This represents an increase of about 74 percent from RM1.60 billion and a growth of 48 percent in the number of members fro
m 330,196 in the first half of 2024.
Additionally, the ministry mentioned that approximately 158,000 husbands have joined the i-Sayang programme, involving a total transfer of contributions totaling RM309.4 million as of August 2025.
