JOHOR COMMITTED TO ENSURE SMOOTH TRAFFIC AT CAUSEWAY, LINKEDUA

The Johor state government is committed to ensure smooth traffic at the two land crossings between Johor and Singapore.

Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the congestion problem at Johor Causeway in Johor Bahru and Linkedua at Iskandar Puteri, have been going on for decades and needed to be solved immediately.

“It is a very important issue, it is a legacy issue and have been going on for the past two to three decades.

“As the new Menteri Besar of Johor, it is my objective to ensure that this issue is resolved this year.

That is why many Johoreans are seeing me at the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine Complex (CIQ) at the Sultan Iskandar Building, and the Sultan Abu Bakar Complex at 5 am,” he said in his speech at the opening ceremony of JStar Motion Sdn Bhd's first manufacturing plant in Asean, here at i-Park@Indahpura, here today.

He said there are many other things that the state government is also trying to resolve including improving the roads in Johor.

He said the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had announced recently that the federal government approved around RM500 million for phase 1, to widen North-South Expressway.

“Recently, we met up with Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, who approved an additional RM40 milion for the roads in Johor.

“On top of that, we are also working with the federal and Singapore governments to maybe, look into providing a ferry shuttle from Tuas to Kota Iskandar,” he said.
